Promoting Parent-Child Togetherness

WHO The Bowie Indian Guides and Princesses, sponsored by the Prince Georges County YMCA, is looking for families with children (Kindergarten to 3rd grade) to join the Y-Indian program for the upcoming 2002-2003 season.
Like other social programs, the
YMCA Indian Guides and Princesses
promotes self-esteem, confidence, leadership,
but also a stronger parent-child relationship

"They'll Never Forget The Time you Spend Together"

"Being Together, Becoming Best Friends"

The program is built around an
American Indian theme
and reinforces awareness of
family, community and nature.

WHAT YMCA Indian programs are about parent and child having fun together, learning more about each other and sharing new experiences.  Parents and children form tribes which meet bi-weekly, with each tribe setting their own meeting day and time.  Activities - like crafts, games, songs, stories, outings, camping and Indian lore - encourage mutual understanding, love and respect for each other.  American Indian lore provides a common interest for both parent and child as well as an exciting theme for activities, projects and special events.
